NewsOK.com has been selected as “Best Website” for the second-straight year in the annual Southern Newspaper Publishers Association contest.

The Oklahoman and its website also placed three other times in the contest.

NewsOK won again in the “50,000 and over” circulation category, the largest one in the contest. SNPA includes newspapers in at least 25 states.

Judges noted the large number of quality sites entered in the contest, but added NewsOK “really stood out — due to the great thought and effort to present a good user experience. Articles had tons of links, photos and a lot had videos. The design is well-thought out and intuitive. This is a site that readers will love to visit.”

They also said The Oklahoman's website has a “strong commitment to interactive multimedia, especially video.”

Judges also liked other parts of the site, including the “know it” online communities and the continuing nDepth series.

“This contest is one of the toughest in the country, so winning it a second-straight time is certainly prestigious,” said Joe Hight, the News and Information Center's director of information and development.

“We have a great and talented team of staff members who work across departments in OPUBCO Communications Group to ensure that we have the best website possible for our audience. We're thrilled that SNPA and other contests have reaffirmed our commitment to excellence.”
