Hight also said that NewsOK was recently selected as one of three finalists for the Online News Association's “General Excellence” award. ONA's contest is for North American newspapers, and NewsOK was the only U.S. finalist in its category.

2011 Print Quality Contest: The Oklahoman placed second in the “Over 100,000” category, the largest one in the contest.
Best Use of Multimedia: NewsOK.com's Static at static.NewsOK.com placed third. Judges said: “This is an excellent ongoing project featuring recording sessions and live performances by local bands as well as the stories behind the music and profiles of the musicians.
Best Use of Multimedia: NewsOK.com's “Places” project places.NewsOK.com won honorable mention. Judges said the project was a great idea. They particularly liked the one on the downtown renaissance of Oklahoma City, calling it “creatively packaged and contains video features, panoramas and interviews. It also includes an easy way for readers to suggest additional places that could be added to the site.”
