Let’s meet again.

The Oklahoman‘s director of photography Doug Hoke will join other staff members at the Devon Boathouse on July 27 for an Instameet with the growing Instagram community.

We’ve done this before. We met in the Paseo District last October, sparking web editor Tiffany Gibson to file this report on this blog:

Through conversations with local photographers, it quickly became apparent that Oklahoma City has something very special. We have a dedicated and large Instagram community compared to other cities our size.

There were a lot of good photos, and Nicole McDaniel was honored as our Instameet Photo Winner. And Hoke picks some of his favorites in another subsequent blog post.

It was so much fun that we really want to do it again. And the Boathouse District seems like a great location.

When the Instameet is over, Hoke and his staff will take a look at the best photos. They will choose three of the best and rank them. The first-place winner will have the photo published in The Oklahoman on Aug. 10 and receive a $100 gift certificate to Bedford Camera & Video.

The second- and third-place winners will receive $50 gift certificates.

So plan your Sunday in a couple weeks around this fun event. Take some pictures with some of the best photographers in our state. Get to know them. Swap stories about the perfect shot of the perfect sunset on the perfect day. Talk about the best #nofilter image you’ve ever taken.

In the end, you might even win a prize.

You don’t need to sign up to attend. You don’t need to pay anybody anything. You just need to have a smart phone and an Instagram account and the willingness to use a common hashtag that afternoon.

You are invited.
