Bears pick Iglesias in third round
The Oklahoma-Chicago pipeline continued Sunday as the Bears selected wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias in the third round with the No. 99 overall pick of the NFL Draft. He’s the fifth Sooner to be drafted by the Bears in the last six years and will join ex-Sooners Tommie Harris and Dusty Dvoracek, both defensive tackles, on the Bears’ roster.
Iglesias was OU’s leading receiver last year, catching 74 passes for 1,150 yards and 10 touchdowns. He should be a nice addition for new Bears QB, Jay Cutler
, as a possession wideout.
"He’s a very sure-handed guy,” said Greg Gabriel
, the Bears’ director of college scouting. "I think he probably has one of the better pairs of hands in this class of receivers.”
Robinson falls to fifth round
Guard Duke Robinson
was projected by some analysts to go as high as the second round. Which is why the Carolina Panthers feel they got a steal by drafting him in the fifth round.
"He’s a guy that is extremely talented, and we thought in the fifth round he was an extremely good value there,” said Panthers general manager Marty Hurney
. "He fits what we want to do on the offensive line and he’s a powerful blocker.”
Harris drafted by Bills as LB
may have played strong safety at OU.
