“NFL GameDay Morning,” 8 a.m. Sunday, traveled to Weatherford to investigate New York Jets coach Rex Ryan and New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's collegiate history before the Saints-Jets matchup at noon Sunday. The Ryan brothers played on the Southwestern Oklahoma State football team in the mid-1980s. However, as NFL Network discovered, their success wearing headsets supersedes their success wearing helmets.
Through interviews with Rex and Rob's college coach Bob Mazie, offensive coordinator Woody Roof, teammate Jon Don Litsch and good friend Steve Guthrie, NFL Network learned how the sons of former NFL coach Buddy Ryan ended up in Weatherford and more precisely their roles on the team.
The retrospective will have exclusive photos from the twin brothers' younger years.
The show also will include a discussion on what's wrong with the Dallas Cowboys with three former Cowboys: running back Tony Dorsett, quarterback Danny White and coach Barry Switzer.
