Sports media: NFL Network to launch four-hour morning show

The NFL Network will debut “NFL AM,” a daily four-hour morning show on NFL news and tidbits, 5 to 9 a.m. Monday from Los Angeles.

The talent roster for “NFL AM” features 13-year NFL veteran Eric Davis, Mark Kriegel, Brian Webber, Nicole Zaloumis and Steve Wyche.

Short takes

— Former Ohio State running back Eddie George and former Oregon quarterback Joey Harrington have been hired to join host Erin Andrews on the Fox college football studio team. Fox's coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2 with Hawaii at USC.

— ESPN has signed play-by-play announcers Mark Jones, Sean McDonough, Brad Nessler, Dave Pasch, Joe Tessitore and Bob Wischusen to multiyear contract extensions. “SportsCenter” anchor and ESPN Radio host Scott Van Pelt also has signed a multiyear extension that includes several on-site “College GameDay” appearances.

— ESPN's coverage of the final 17 NASCAR Sprint Cup races begins Sunday with the Brickyard 400 from Indianapolis. The green flag drops at 12:19 p.m. Allen Bestwick will call the race with analysts Dale Jarrett and Rusty Wallace.

— The Red Sox-Yankees series is featured on Fox's 3 p.m. Saturday baseball game and ESPN's 7 p.m. Sunday game. The Angels-Rangers game will air at 7 p.m. Monday on ESPN.

— NBC Sports Network will telecast 14 CFL games in 2012, including five playoff games. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 with Toronto at Edmonton. All CFL games are airing on ESPN3.com.
