NFL Network
•What is it: A specialty channel owned and operated by the National Football League that was launched in November 2003. It offers year-round, 24-hour-a-day football programming.

•What do you need: NFL Network is available through Cox Communications but only with its digital cable package, meaning you would need a digital receiver to receive the channel. No further equipment is needed with DISH Network and DirecTV.

•How much does it cost: Cox Communications subscribers can purchase what's known as the Digital Select package, which includes limited and expanded cable, and choose the sports tier for a total of $53.49 per month. Another option is purchasing the limited cable package and adding the sports tier for $14 per month. Packages that include NFL Network on DISH Network and DirecTV currently start at $29.99.

•What channel is it: Cox carries the network on channel 252 and in high definition on channel 723. DISH Network carries the network on channel 154. DirecTV carries the network on channel 212.
