had been out since Aug. 3 with a broken right hand.

Rookie running back Knowshon Moreno was not on the field. He left Friday’s game against San Francisco with a sprained left knee.

Jets: Rookie QB Mark Sanchez, coming off an impressive NFL debut, will start next Monday’s nationally televised preseason game at Baltimore. Sanchez entered a 23-20 loss to St. Louis with 28 seconds left in the first quarter and threw a 48-yard pass to David Clowney. He completed three of four passes for 88 yards. Kellen Clemens was 4-of-4 for 24 yards, was sacked once and lost a fumble.

→Texans: Houston’s Rex Grossman is expected to miss about a month with a hamstring injury, and the Texans are looking to sign a quarterback to fill in until he’s healthy.

Grossman, Houston’s third QB and the former Bears starter, was injured in Saturday’s win over the Chiefs. Coach Gary Kubiak said he doesn’t feel comfortable finishing the preseason with only Matt Schaub and backup Dan Orlovsky.

→Vikings: The quarterback competition creeps closer to resolution. Sage Rosenfels shined with the first team in the preseason game at Indianapolis, though coach Brad Childress is keeping the performance in perspective. The coach is also making sure not to put Tarvaris Jackson’s struggles in too strong of a light. Jackson starts this week when the Vikes play Kansas City.
