Bradford likely to stay in schoolDon’t be so quick to put University of Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford in an NFL uniform. The redshirt sophomore from Putnam City North almost certainly would be a top five pick in next April’s draft if he comes out early, which would mean a contract with as much as $40 million in guaranteed money. But people in Norman who know Bradford think there’s a good chance he may pass on the big bucks for a year and stay in school. Bradford is a recently named second-team academic All-American with a 3.95 GPA in finance. Then again, maybe all that means is that he’s way too smart to thumb his nose at $40 million.
full stadiumNFL commissioner Roger Goodell said this week that if both the Giants and Jets end up hosting the conference championship games, one of the games would be played on Sunday night, Jan. 18, and the other on Monday night.
Offensive explosionThe NFL had its first 800-point scoring week in history last week. A total of 837 points were scored in the 16 games. The previous record was 787, which was reached three times, most recently in Week 17 of the 2007 season. Going into Thursday’s games, the league has averaged 45.0 points per game this season. If that average holds, it would eclipse the previous high-water mark of 43.7 set in 1983.
