The woman accused of killing her husband, the Nichols Hills fire chief, called her ex-lover beforehand and said she “was going to be inheriting a significant amount of money,” an OSBI agent reported.

Rebecca L. Bryan, 52, also told the man “she still loved him … and that she was thinking of buying a house near where” he lives, the agent reported.

She is charged with first-degree murder. Her husband, Keith Bryan, 52, was shot in the head at their Mustang home the night of Sept. 20. He died the next day.

The possible motive for the shooting was revealed for the first time in court affidavits filed Monday. In the affidavits, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agent, Shawn Wright, asked a judge for permission to search the defendant's home and work.

In a 911 phone call, Rebecca Bryan blamed an intruder for the shooting. She was arrested after the handgun used in the shooting was found inside her home in a clothes dryer.

She called 911 to report her husband being shot at 10:07 p.m. Sept. 20, the records show. She called her former lover that night about three hours earlier, at 7:19 p.m.

The OSBI agent reported Rebecca Bryan had an extramarital affair with the man from July 2009 to January 2010.

The man terminated the affair, but she continued to periodically contact him “and seek his company,” the agent reported. The man hung up on her when she first called him Sept. 20 on his cellphone.
