Last month, four Thunder players were among seven NBAers who traveled overseas as part of the league’s Basketball Without Borders program.

Nick Collison, Serge Ibaka, Thabo Seflosha and Cole Aldrich went to Africa, participating in a number of community outreach initiatives.

John Rohde previewed and detailed the event here.

But now that they’ve been back in the States for a couple weeks, Aldrich and Collison reflected on the positive trip at this week’s media day. Here’s there comments:

Cole Aldrich

“Unbelievable. It was so much fun. Never being into another world like that, it’s surreal. You see the way people live, the way people’s culture is different from ours. It was so much fun. And it was really heartwarming to be able to go over there and help people out. There’s so many people over in Africa and all around the world that need our help. Just to go over there and give a week and a half of our time was so much fun. I’ve always loved to go and do charity things and do that stuff and fundraisers and stuff. But going and actually seeing the people there and the way they live and touching the kids and seeing everything you see, it’s crazy.”

Nick Collison

“For me, it was an eye-opening experience. I was there with the people who were actually doing the work. For me, personally to experience and see how different people live in another part of the world, it was a great experience and gave me a lot of perspective on the world and my life.”
