More than 200 people recently attended the A Night for Africa fundraiser hosted by the Oklahoma City Thunder's Thabo Sefolosha and his wife Bertille in the Gaillardia home of Steve and Tina Dobson.
The event raised about $250,000 for after-school sports programs in Mamelodi, South Africa, sponsored by the Swiss foundation IMBEWU-Suisse. Attendees included Thunder players Sefolosha, Serge Ibaka, Nick Collison, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Kendrick Perkins, Kevin Martin, Reggie Jackson, Derek Fisher, and Hasheem Thabeet; Thunder General Manager Sam Presti; and Kim Bohunty with the NBA.
Oklahoma artist Ray Tennyson's painting of Durant and Westbrook went for $70,000 in an auction.
A fashion show featured dresses from South African designers David Tlale, Evelyn Lambert, Reuben Reuel and Farai Simoyi, who live in New York, and was presented in conjunction with Oklahoma City's Liberte and Gordon Stuart.
