NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The winter storm that is already inundating New Jersey with snow has caused New Jersey Transit to suspend train and bus service on some lines.

The agency says there will be no service on the Morris & Essex, Montclair-Boonton and Midtown Direct lines as of 8 p.m. Friday. They will remain suspended through Saturday.

NJ Transit says those rail lines were hit hard by Superstorm Sandy and are particularly vulnerable to high wind gusts, heavy snow and the possibility of falling trees.

All bus service north of Interstate 195 also will be suspended at 8 p.m. That includes all routes serving the Port Authority Bus Terminal and George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal and all routes that operate on Route 9. The suspension will continue until further notice.
