OSU athletic director Mike Holder said no one from Arkansas has contacted him. Holder said "Arkansas rumors” were barely broached during a regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday afternoon.

"I'm happy here at OSU,” Sutton said. "I'm excited about the future of the program.”

It might be several days before Arkansas makes an offer to anyone, but it is expected to move quickly. Holder said Sutton has his full support, even though he didn't hire him as OSU's head coach.

"It doesn't matter who hired them,” Holder said. "I don't put much credence in that. Once they're head coaches at Oklahoma State, they deserve all the support we can give them. And the fans, too.

"John Smith, I didn't hire him. I didn't hire (Mike) Gundy. The only coaches I've hired were two golf coaches and a softball coach. That's it. It would be fine with me if I never have to hire another coach. I'd like to see the ones we have be successful.”

The Cowboys finished 22-13 in Sutton's first season. They missed the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year, finishing 6-10 in Big 12 play.
