Firefighters were called to the main building of New Life Faith Fellowship Church, 2465 W Main, about 5:20 a.m., fire Battalion Chief Tommy Iago said. No one was inside, but heavy flames caused firefighters to battle the blaze from outside the building.

The roof of the building collapsed, likely rendering it unsalvageable, Iago said. A damage estimate was not immediately available.

Iago said the cause of the blaze is under investigation. A church administrator told fire officials the building was last occupied Sunday afternoon for a worship service.

The blaze took about an hour and a half to put out.
