MILFAY (AP) — The Creek County Sheriff's Office says no one was hurt when a natural gas pipeline exploded and burned near Milfay.
Sgt. Les Vaughan says a 26-inch transmission line operated by Tulsa-based ONEOK exploded about 11:30 a.m. Monday. Vaughan says gas flow was quickly turned off by ONEOK crews and the fire was out within an hour.
Vaughan says the explosion occurred in the middle of a field and no structures were damaged. He says the cause of the explosion was not immediately known. ONEOK officials were waiting for the pipeline to cool before investigating the explosion's cause and starting repairs.
Milfay is located about six miles northeast of Stroud south of the Turner Turnpike.
