No. 22 Gonzaga stifles Santa Clark 89-37

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Shelby Cheslek led a balanced attack and No. 22 Gonzaga used its defense to smother Santa Clara 89-37 Thursday.

The Bulldogs (19-3, 9-1) won their ninth straight game and have not allowed more than 50 points in improving to 11-0 at McCarthey Athletic Center. Santa Clark (7-14, 3-7) is the fourth team the Zags have held to less than 40 points.

Keani Albanez had 13 points, Jazmine Redmon 12 and Haiden Palmer 10 as all 12 players scored.

No player reached double figures for the Broncos.

Gonzaga had two 10-0 runs and a 9-0 run in racing to a 45-17 lead at the half. Santa Clara had 15 turnovers and finished with 29.
