BALTIMORE (AP) — Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo's respect for fifth-ranked Ohio State apparently grows on a daily basis.
The coach says, "It seems like every time I turn on the tape that team gets better."
The Midshipmen open the season Saturday against the Buckeyes, who have won 24 straight regular-season games. Ohio State has national championship aspirations despite losing starting quarterback Braxton Miller to a season-ending shoulder injury.
Navy nearly beat Ohio State in the opener of this two-game series in 2009, falling 31-27 when a two-point conversion went awry in the closing seconds.
This one will be played at the home stadium of the Baltimore Ravens.
The Midshipmen hope to benefit from the momentum generated by winning their final five games last year.
