Noble Animal Shelter is not closing, despite Facebook rumor

Several Facebook posts have reported the Noble Animal Shelter is closing and that all the animals will be euthanized, which is not entirely true. The shelter is not closing, but some animals will be euthanized.

The shelter has 11 kennels and a few cat cages. Because of its size, the shelter isn't able to hold many animals for long periods of time, Cox said.

Some of the animals at the shelter have been there since April and early May. The animals include a Rottweiler-German shepherd mix, a large black Labrador retriever mix, a Chihuahua-dachshund mix, a cairn terrier and a puppy that might be a pit bull and terrier mix.

People frequently dump animals in Noble along U.S. 77 and also at the 7-Eleven, Cox said.

Photos of some of the animals at the shelter are on Facebook at www.facebook.com/nobleaco and also on Petfinder at www.petfinder.com/shelters/OK176.html.

Anyone interested in adopting animals at the shelter can call 872-9231. The animal control address is 115 N Second St.
