Noble soldier dies in Afghanistan

Sgt. Allen R. McKenna Jr., 28, died Tuesday in Kandahar province. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, of Fort Carson, Colo.

Military officials did not immediately release details about the circumstances of McKenna's death.

Bobby Bingenheimer, who is listed as McKenna's brother on Facebook, posted on Tuesday afternoon:

“I will always love you big brother! Your (sic) the one person I looked up to the most, you were my best friend, the best father, the greatest man I had ever known. I'm going to be lost without you. R.I.P. Sgt. Allen Mckenna.”

Attempts to reach family members for comment Wednesday were unsuccessful.
