Nominee picked for U.S. attorney
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Wednesday nominated Sanford Coats to be the U.S. attorney for the western district of Oklahoma , which is based in Oklahoma City .
Coats has been an assistant U.S. attorney in the office since 2004 and was chief of the major crimes section. Coats must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate . John Richter stepped down in August from the U.S. attorney job.
