With the start of school less than two weeks away, Oklahoma City Public Schools teachers are picking up supplies to prep their classrooms through the nonprofit organization that supports their district.
The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools began its Teacher Warehouse distribution Wednesday. This month, more than 600 teachers are expected to receive donated necessities, ranging from erasers to copy paper, that would otherwise have to be purchased by teachers, said a spokeswoman for the nonprofit.
The monthly distributions are continuously growing, according to the agency.
Last year, nearly 6,000 teachers received about $267,000 in free supplies. The group has distributed more than $1 million in items since the Teachers Warehouse program began five years ago.
