United Way sets 4 REAL deadline for applications
NORMAN — United Way of Norman is taking applications for the United Way 4 REAL program, a leadership and volunteer group for high school freshmen. This program prepares participants for community leadership.
The application deadline has been extended to noon on Jan. 7. Pick up an application at the office at 2424 Springer Drive, Suite 304. Applicants are selected on the basis of their commitment to addressing the social challenges of today's youth, a desire to develop personal leadership skills and an enthusiasm for volunteerism. Classes are held weekly for an eight-week period.
Spring registration
open for Spike's Club
NORMAN — Registration is open for a six-week session of Spike's Club, a weekly after-school program at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History for children in first through fifth grade. Session 1, for first and second grades, will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 29, Feb. 5, 12, 19 and 26, and March 5. Session 2, for children in third through fifth grades, will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 31, Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28, and March 7. Cost is $35 for museum members or $45 for nonmembers. Registration deadline is Jan. 29. To register or for information on financial assistance, call 325-1008.
