Wildfire recovery committee offers list

The Cleveland County Long Term Recovery Committee, which is helping wildfire victims, is compiling a list of licensed companies in the areas of plumbing, electrical or general construction to assist as resources in the rebuilding process. Any company or individual that would like to be listed should call United Way of Norman at 364-3800. Volunteer groups that would like to donate labor also are encouraged to call with their information.

‘Night to Unite' charity event is set

— Circle K International, a service organization at the University of Oklahoma, is sponsoring “A Night to Unite” event from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Molly Shi Boren ballroom at the Oklahoma Memorial Union. The evening is designed to raise awareness and support The Eliminate Project, an effort of Kiwanis International and UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. The evening will feature a fashion show, food, raffle booth and speakers. The event is free, but donations will be accepted.

OU students to hold ‘safe' carnival

— The University of Oklahoma Housing Center Student Association will sponsor a fall carnival as a safe trick-or-treat option for children from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in Adams Center, 346 W First St., and on the Walker-Adams Mall, east of the center. The free event will offer face painting, prizes, inflatable toys, Halloween games and trick or treating.
