OU sets holiday lights event

People of all beliefs and perspectives are invited to ring in the holiday season with the University of Oklahoma's annual holiday lights celebration at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in David A. Burr Park, 1501 Asp Ave., just south of the Huston Huffman Fitness Center.

The Singing Sooners and OU Wind Symphony Brass will perform. Offering remarks will be OU President David L. Boren; Barbara Boyd, outreach director of religious studies; Norman Stillman, director of Judaic studies; and Student Association President Joe Sangirardi. The event will feature the lighting of a tree and menorah, singing, a visit from Santa Claus and free hot cider and cookies.

Oklahoma Youth Orchestra to perform

The Oklahoma Youth Orchestra will present its annual Christmas concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Nancy O'Brian Center for the Performing Arts, 1809 Stubbeman Ave. Performing will be the Oklahoma Youth Philharmonic, the Chamber Orchestra, the Sinfonia, the Edmond Festival Strings, the Mid-Del Festival Strings, the North Area Festival Strings, the Norman Festival Strings and the Stillwater Festival Strings. Admission is $5 for adults, $10 for families and $2 for students.
