Junior Golf Academy is set in Norman

A Junior Golf Academy sponsored by Norman's Parks and Recreation Department starts June 19 at Westwood Park Golf Course. The academy is for boys and girls ages 8 to 17. Cost is $90.

Sessions are from 9 to 11 a.m. June 19, 20 and 26 and July 17, 24 and 25. Golf professional David Lisle will lead the course, with help from other golf pros.

The academy will cover topics including course rules, etiquette, putting, chipping, irons and woods. The course concludes with a tournament and pizza party.

Drug roundup will be in Norman

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Department will hold a prescription drug roundup from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 16.

Sheriff's deputies will collect old, unused medications at the Homeland stores at 1251 E Alameda St. and 2600 W Robinson St. in Norman, as well as the Homeland store at 10700 S Pennsylvania Ave. in Oklahoma City. Deputies also will collect drugs at Crest Foods, 1315 N Eastern Ave. in Moore.

The drugs will be turned over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to be destroyed in a safe manner.
