Owner Holly McGowen holds a degree in public relations and business from the University of Oklahoma. She said she did plenty of research before stepping into the world of entrepreneurship, including working for a boutique for several years. The idea to own a bakery came after a visit to Sprinkles in Dallas.
“I wanted both a boot store and a bakery. I couldn't choose,” McGowen said. “I wanted it to be completely unique, so I thought, ‘Why not both?'”
When ownership changed with the Oklahoma City RedHawks, she knew the time was right to leave her job as the team's director of public relations and pursue her dream.
“I just went for it,” she said.
In addition to boots for children and adults, the store offers several varieties of gourmet cupcakes, including a special daily flavor. The cupcakes have Western-theme names, such as Vanilla Howdy, Chocolate Outlaw and Tumbleweed. Also available are mini pies and hand-dipped chocolate treats. Full-size pies are available by special order, and the store offers catering.
