Sheriff's office hosts blood drive

The Cleveland County sheriff's office will partner with the Oklahoma Blood Institute for a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the sheriff's office, 128 S Peters Ave. Anyone 16 and older can donate, but 16-year-olds need parental consent.

Photo identification is required. Sixteen- and 17-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds to give blood. Donors 18 and older should weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors will receive a voucher for two tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo. To schedule a time to donate, call Patty Cox at 701-8840.

Library system seeks tutors

The Pioneer Library System's Literacy Services Department will host tutor training for prospective volunteers from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Norman Public Library, 225 N Webster Ave.

The training is designed for volunteers who want to work with learners of English as a second language. Registration must be completed through the Cleveland County Literacy Office by calling 701-2682.
