Widening project closes roadway
60th Avenue NW from Franklin Road to Indian Hills Road will be closed to through traffic for the next three months as road crews continue a major road widening project. Traffic is being detoured to 48th Avenue NW along Franklin and Indian Hills. A portion of 60th NW has been reopened to traffic from Tecumseh Road to Franklin as crews have completed that leg of the project. The $5.7 million street improvement project is being administered by the state Transportation Department on behalf of the city of Norman.
Depot gallery to feature Norman artist
The work of Norman artist Don Holladay will be featured at the Santa Fe Depot gallery, 200 S Jones Ave., through August, with an opening reception planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. The Oklahoma City-based jazz trio “A Shade of Blue” will provide music. The opening reception is part of activities planned at downtown art galleries, the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art and Lions Park for the monthly Second Friday Circuit of Art event.
Cookbook swap set at library
The Norman Public Library will hold its annual Cookbook Swap and Shop, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the library, 225 N Webster Ave. Participants are asked to bring their unwanted cookbooks to swap with other local chefs. Gently used cookbooks will be sold at bargain prices. The Food for Thought Institute will demonstrate recipes.
