Street to close for crane
NORMAN — Peters Avenue, north of Main for about half a block, will be closed until 5 p.m. Tuesday so a crane can be set up to repair the roof on the Financial Building, 111 N Peters Ave. A portion of the roof was damaged by the April 13 tornado.
Sidewalks will be closed in the same area. In about two weeks, the same portion of the street and sidewalk will be closed again for the dismantling of the crane. Traffic control signs will be posted.
Singers bring home honors
NORMAN — High school students from Norman North and Norman High School brought home top honors from the annual state competition for the National Association of Teachers in Singing. Emma Youngblood and London Long-Wheeler placed first and third, respectively, in the Older High School Women's Division. Jonathan Buckelew placed second in the Older High School Men's Division. Hannah Tullius took first place in the Younger High School Women's Division. Semifinalist honors went to Jerika Herbert and Erica Maynord. The winners are students of choir director Tony Gonzalez.
