Norman City Council candidate withdraws

A Ward 3 city council candidate has withdrawn from the race, although his name will appear on the April 2 ballot.

Benjamin Joel Carter said he is no longer eligible to serve in Ward 3, because of a move outside the ward boundaries. The move was unforeseen when he filed for office, he said.

Carter was running against incumbent Robert Castleberry. No other candidates are seeking the post.

On April 2, voters will cast ballots in the mayor's race and in Wards 1, 5 and 7.

Mayor Cindy Rosenthal, running for a third term, is challenged by Tom Sherman and David Kempf.

Roger Gallagher is the incumbent in Ward 1, seeking a second term. Greg Heiple is running against him.

Ward 5 candidates are incumbent Dave Spaulding and Lynne Miller. In Ward 7, incumbent Linda Lockett is challenged by Stephen Tyler Holman.
