NORMAN — Construction of Legacy Park is on schedule now that the city has received the deed for the donated land.
Developers of the University North Park Addition signed over a deed to the city for about seven acres in September, City Attorney Jeff Bryant said. The addition is east of Interstate 35 on 24th Avenue NW, between Robinson Street and Tecumseh Road.
Bryant said bids for the park will be let in November, with a contract to be awarded in December. Construction should start in January, and the park will take about a year to build.
Bryant updated city council members on the park during a Tuesday conference. The park will feature a man-made lake, amphitheater, public art, walks and an area for restaurants around the lake.
Improvements to the intersection of 24th Avenue NW and Legacy Park Drive are almost complete, Bryant said, and this paves the way for park construction to begin.
