NORMAN — City council races developed in three wards as a three-day filing period for four ward posts closed Wednesday.
Only Councilman Chad Williams, 34, incumbent in Ward 8, drew no opponent.
Four candidates filed for the Ward 2 seat being vacated by Tom Kovach. Two candidates are challenging Ward 4 incumbent Greg Jungman, and one person filed against Ward 6 incumbent Jim Griffith.
Filing for Ward 2 were Clint Williams, 32; Matthew Leal, 31; Aleisha Karjala, 39; and Gary D. Caissie, 53.
Jungman, 37, filed for re-election to his post and is challenged by Rhett Michael Jones, 38, and William Hickman, 45.
Incumbent Jim Griffith, 64, filed to retain his Ward 6 seat. Jim C. Lang, 38, is challenging him.
All posts are two-year terms. The election will be April 1. A runoff will be June 24, if needed.
