Norman council will consider Lindsey Street widening design contract
Norman City Council members will consider awarding a contract to SAIC Energy, Environment and Infrastructure Inc. for the design of a widening project on W Lindsey between 24th Avenue SW and Berry Road.
NORMAN — City council members will consider a $1.9 million design contract for the W Lindsey Street widening project when they convene at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at city hall, 201 W Gray St.
The contract would authorize SAIC Energy, Environment and Infrastructure Inc. to complete a design for widening Lindsey from 24th Avenue SW to Berry Road. The plan calls for increasing the street from three to five lanes and incorporating landscaped areas, bike lanes and sidewalk improvements.
The project was authorized by voters in an August bond election. The design contract is the first step in getting the project started, officials say.
In other business, the council will consider awarding a $1.8 million contract to New World Systems Inc. for software, hardware, implementation and maintenance of a new computer dispatch and records management system for the police and fire departments.
