The Norman Public Schools Board of Education has promoted Norman High athletic director T.D. O’Hara to be district athletic director.
O’Hara has spent the past four years at Norman and will be replacing Frank Thompson, who is retiring in June.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to serve the Norman High Public Schools in this capacity and under the direction and cooperation of the fine leaders we have at the district level and at each school,” O’Hara said in a release from the school district. “Athletics has always been a part of my life and I come from a family of educators and of administrators involved with secondary athletics.
“It’s been a pleasure working for and learning from Mr. Thompson these past four years, and I look forward to building on his solid foundation while challenging our coaches with new ideas.”
Before joining Norman, O’Hara was the athletic director for four years at Plainview. He was also the baseball coach during his tenure there.
He was also the baseball coach at Tecumseh, while also previously serving as a basketball coach at the middle school and high school level.
O’Hara has degrees from both Southwestern Oklahoma State and East Central.
