Norman library class is on hoop dancing

Oklahoman Published: June 30, 2009
NORMAN — A free hoop dancing class for adults will be offered at Norman Public Library, 225 N Webster Ave.

Led by instructor Martha Constant, participants will use weighted hoops, similar to hula hoops, during the exercise class.

The classes are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays in July, beginning this week.

Hoop dancing combines rhythmic dance moves with the exercise hoops to tone core muscles and burn calories. Constant will teach waist hooping, turns, walking while hooping, and other basic moves.

No previous experience is needed. Hoops are provided. Participants should wear stretchy, comfortable clothing.

The classes are sponsored by Pioneer Library System and Friends of the Norman Public Library. They are part of the library system’s adult summer reading program "Read to be Fit — Fit to be Read.”
