School board members have announced the appointment of two new principals.

The board voted Tuesday to hire Peter Liesenfeld as principal at Norman North High School and Annette Williams as principal of Madison Elementary School.

Liesenfeld has served as principal at Longfellow Middle School since 2011, and Williams comes from the principal position at Coolidge Elementary School in Oklahoma City.

Liesenfeld grew up in Norman and has worked his entire 14-year career in his hometown, also serving as assistant principal at Alcott Middle School, assistant band director at Norman High and band director of Irving Middle School.

“Peter Liesenfeld has this contagious mindset that constantly explores better and more effective ways to help students be successful, and it has led to extraordinary results at Longfellow,” said school Superintendent Joe Siano.

Siano said Liesenfeld had recruited an impressive staff and created a culture of high expectations, innovation and community support at Longfellow. He also is involved in the school district’s plans to develop freshman academies and university centers at both high schools.

Williams has had a 29-year career that has included service to Putnam City, Choctaw and Harrah public schools.

“Under Annette Williams’ leadership, Coolidge has improved its student achievement, attendance and mobility rates,” Siano said. “We are excited by the talent and insight she brings to Madison.”
