Norman and Norman North prep football fans will be able to follow their teams through webcasts for the first time. KREF-AM 1400 is producing the webcasts through a partnership with the Norman Public Schools, producer Perry Spencer said.

The games, including an hour pregame show, will air on NormanHighlive.com and NormanNorthlive.com with audio from KREF announcers. Andrew Himes and Tyler McComas are covering Norman games, and Chris Joseph and Clay Speer are the Norman North broadcast team.

The schools' coaches shows, 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, also will be webcast. The websites also will cover a variety of other sports.

KREF will carry the live audio from the away team broadcast. The delayed broadcast of the home team has been discontinued, Spencer said.

High school broadcasts

The Sports Animal radio network and the new 107.7 The Franchise sports station will be offering metro football games of the week. The Sports Animal, with Gideon Hamilton and Carey Murdock as the main analyst, opens next week with Norman North at Norman at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Yukon at Mustang at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Franchise, with Todd Lisenbee and midday personality Erik Gee, will open next week with Putnam City-Putnam City North at 7 p.m. Friday. Randy Heitz will provide a postgame scoreboard show. The Franchise, which airs “the Bob Stoops Show” at 7 p.m. Thursday, does not plan to carry Thursday games.

Among other high school broadcasts, Randy Renner and Scott Swyden are teaming together for the first time to call Deer Creek games on KGHM-AM 1340. Radio coverage of Moore High School games returns to KOKC-AM 1520 for its 21st season (J.D. Northcutt and Justin Rolland). Mustang games will air on KZLS FM-99.7.

Short takes

— Liam McHugh, a KOKH-25 sports anchor and reporter from 2007-09, is hosting the Notre Dame pregame shows, “Countdown to Kickoff,” from Notre Dame Stadium with Doug Flutie and Hines Ward. Coverage begins at 2 p.m. Saturday for the Temple game. Dan Hicks, Mike Mayock and sideline reporter Alex Flanagan will call the games.
