NORMAN — A Mid-American Conference quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, just won his second Super Bowl.
Big Ben’s backup, Charlie Batch, also was a MAC quarterback (Eastern Michigan).
Byron Leftwich and Chad Pennington (both Marshall) were Mid-American QBs, and Ball State’s Nate Davis is expected to be picked high in the 2009 NFL draft.
So MAC quarterbacks have made a name for themselves, and Norman North’s Tyler Tettleton isn’t at all dismayed about signing with Ohio University.
Tettleton, who harbored dreams of playing for Oklahoma State, his dad’s alma mater, signed with Ohio U. on Wednesday.
Tettleton had two strikes against him. He’s only 6-foot tall, and he missed his junior season due to a knee injury.
“I think the junior year probably hurt him more than anything,” said Mickey Tettleton, Tyler’s father and a former major-league baseball player with the Rangers, Athletics and Tigers.
“Look at the kids playing quarterback at Kansas (Todd Reesing) and Missouri (Chase Daniel).
