NORMAN — Capt. Darry Stacy has retired from the Norman Police Department after 23 years of service.
In January, Stacy, 45, a Republican, will take over the Cleveland County District 2 commissioner post being vacated by Republican George Skinner, 77, who has held that position for 22 years.
Stacy defeated two Republican challengers in June to win Skinner's seat.
Stacy was honored for his police career during a retirement reception last week at City Hall.
Skinner will be honored for his years of service with a public reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday in the commissioners' meeting room on the second floor of the county office building, 201 S Jones Ave.
Stacy also has been a member of the Norman school board since 2006. He is vacating that position, effective Dec. 31. Filing for the Office 3 school board post began Monday and ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
