NORMAN — Cindy Masters was in her office doing paper work at the Masters' Sinclair service station Wednesday when she heard a woman shouting: “Stop! Stop!” Then she heard gunfire.
“I thought it was a domestic dispute of some kind,” Masters said.
She ran outside and saw a female police officer standing beside a man lying on the pavement, bleeding from gunshot wounds.
The officer fired multiple times at the man as he advanced on her with a knife, Capt. Tom Easley said.
The shooting occurred about noon Wednesday after the man, whose identity has not been released, entered Wendy's restaurant, 1908 W Main St., demanding to see a female employee thought to be an acquaintance.
Easley said the man walked back to the food preparation area where he hit the woman in the face.
“She saw that he had a knife and ran and hid,” Easley said.
A second employee attempted to intervene until she also saw that he had a knife, Easley said.
