Norman Regional Health System gets awards from hospital group

NORMAN — The Norman Regional Health System recently received three awards from VHA Inc.’s Oklahoma/Arkansas regional office for improvement in emergency department care and overall clinical quality.

VHA is a national alliance that serves more than 1,400 nonprofit hospitals.

Norman Regional received a clinical excellence award related to the treatment of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia care and prevention of surgical site infection.

The hospital also won a clinical improvement award for the treatment of heart attack, heart failure and prevention of surgical site infection.

The emergency department received a "Sustained Performance — Better than Benchmark” award for decreasing the number of patients that left the emergency room without being cared for and improving the overall length of stay there.
