NORMAN — Lincoln Elementary School was under a brief lockdown Monday afternoon while police responded to a call from a nearby residence that a man had a knife and was threatening to harm himself.

Capt. Tom Easley said the episode lasted less than an hour and was peacefully resolved.

School officials said the elementary school at 915 Classen Blvd. was locked down while police officers responded to the call but that the lockdown was so brief that the school district didn’t have time to get a message to parents before it was called off.

The call came in about 2:30 p.m., Easley said, and by 3:30 p.m. the lockdown had been lifted.
