Norman school choirs to combine for concert

The Norman Children's Chorus and Norman North High School Chorale will present a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church.

The Norman Children's Chorus and Norman North High School Chorale will present a free fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, 220 S Webster Ave.

The children's chorus performs each fall alternately with Norman North and Norman High School. This concert is the first of the season for the Norman Children's Chorus. Each choir will present pieces individually and then combine for two final numbers.

The Norman Children's Chorus is a program of Children's Art Network Inc. and is open to students in grades three through eight.

The Chamber Choir is open by audition to fourth- through eighth-graders, and the Descant Choir is open to all children in grades three and above who wish to sing. The chorus meets on Monday evenings at Alcott Middle School. Conductor is Sandy Knudson, music teacher at Adams Elementary.

The Norman North High School Chorale is directed by Tony Gonzalez. The chorale has earned consecutive State Sweepstakes Awards, and won major festivals in Dallas, San Antonio and Houston, Texas, as well as in New Orleans, La., Chicago, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
