A team of Fargo-area law enforcement officials picked up Nakvinda this morning at the Oklahoma County jail, said Chief Deputy Jim Thoreson of the Cass County (N.D.) Sheriff's Office. Nakvinda is scheduled to make a court appearance Friday.
Prosecutors accuse Nakvinda of fatally beating Philip Gattuso, 49, on Oct. 26 at Gattuso's Fargo condominium. Gattuso's former father-in-law, Gene Kirkpatrick, 63, of Oklahoma City, is charged with paying Nakvinda $3,000 for the slaying.
Kirkpatrick told investigators he didn't like the way his granddaughter was raised by Gattuso after Kirkpatrick's daughter Valerie, Gattuso's wife, died in March, police said.
Thoreson said "more than a few" law officers came to pick up Nakvinda, but declined to release further details about the transfer.
