Northeast coach Kenny Blair, former OU star Roy Williams helping NFL Foundation support tornado victims

by Scott Wright Published: August 25, 2013

Serving as player ambassadors for USA Football’s Heads Up Football initiative, Northeast High School head coach and former Philadelphia Eagle Kenny Blair and former Oklahoma star Roy Williams are working with the NFL Foundation to help a Moore-area youth league replace equipment lost in the May tornado.

The NFL Foundation sent more than 1,000 pieces of new equipment to replace what was lost when the Oklahoma Elite Football League’s storage facility in Moore was destroyed. The donation included everything from helmets and shoulder pads to blocking dummies.

Two of the teams in the league — the Moore Pirates and OKC Wolfpack — are part of the 103 Heads Up Football pilot programs funded by the NFL Foundation.

Charlotte Jones Anderson, who heads up the NFL Foundation, will visit the Oklahoma Elite Football League’s practice Monday to watch different teams and speak with the players and parents before announcing the NFL Foundation’s equipment donation. Blair, Williams and league president Charles Thompson will also appear at the event.
