Ross Porter honored
Former L.A. Dodgers announcer Ross Porter, an OU graduate from Shawnee, is the winner of the Bill Teegins Excellence in Sportscasting Award, which he will receive Thursday nightat the Warren Spahn Award Gala in Guthrie.

Porter got started in broadcasting as a news reporter for WKY-AM 930 and sportscaster for WKY-4. At age 27, he joined KNBC-4 in Los Angeles as a weekend sports anchor and spent 10 years with the station. Porter broadcast Dodgers games for 28 years (1977-2004).

• FSN Southwest (Cox 37) will replay the Fiesta Bowl and BCS Championship Game as condensed one-hour "Best Damn Instant Bowl Classics.”The Fiesta Bowl will air at 4 p.m. today, 9 and 11 p.m. Monday and 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The BCS final will air at 3 p.m. today.
