Former L.A. Dodgers announcer Ross Porter, an OU graduate from Shawnee, is the winner of the Bill Teegins Excellence in Sportscasting Award, which he will receive Thursday nightat the Warren Spahn Award Gala in Guthrie.

Porter got started in broadcasting as a news reporter for WKY-AM 930 and sportscaster for WKY-4. At age 27, he joined KNBC-4 in Los Angeles as a weekend sports anchor and spent 10 years with the station. Porter broadcast Dodgers games for 28 years (1977-2004).
