Media notebook: ESPNU to air Rise Games

ESPNU (Cox 253) will broadcast the Rise Games, a new weeklong, multi-sport event that will feature elite and competitive high school sports from Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla.

Coverage will include the All-America Softball game at 6 p.m. Saturday, the Gridiron Kings, which features 64 of the best high school players in seven skill positions at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and the AAU 17-under Boys Basketball Super Showcase, 4-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

For the showcase, ESPNU will provide viewers with analysis of the players and interviews by Andy Katz with more than 30 college coaches, including John Calipari (Kentucky), Roy Williams (North Carolina) and Billy Donovan (Florida).

→Fox Sports Radio (KEBC-AM 1340) will carry Dallas Cowboys games this season (except for two preseason games) and weekly one-hour Cowboys shows at 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, which will debut Sept. 7. Brad Sham’s daily two-minute reports will debut Aug. 1, and two-minute reports from Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips will begin Sept. 8. They will air on David Garrett’s 3-6 p.m. talk show. KEBC also will carry UCO football games, an Edmond high school game of the week and three Heritage Hall road games.

→The Cardinals-Phillies series is in the national spotlight with games at 3 p.m. Saturday on KOKH-25 (Dick Stockton and Tim McCarver) and 12:30 p.m. Sunday on TBS (Chip Caray, Ron Darling and David Wells).

→Beginning Tuesday, Cox is moving WGN and its Chicago Cubs telecasts from channel 70 to channel 19.

→For the first time, NFL Network is home to all 65 NFL preseason games.
