Now you can LISTEN to NewsOK: Audio for sports fans on the go

We’ve now made it possible to take NewsOK Sports with you in the car as you fight the rush-hour traffic.

Or on your jog — if that’s your thing.

We launched a new feature on NewsOK Mobile a couple of weeks ago, showcasing a handful of audio files to our mobile audience and inviting them to listen to the audio with one simple click.

See that little icon at the top right of the screen? That tells you how many audio files you have selected to listen to. That icon also leads you to the audio page we launched as part of this project. That’s where you can see all the recent audio files we upload each week.

So far, we’ve focused on weekly sports audio:

  • The Bob Stoops news conference
  • The Mike Gundy news conference
  • The new Thunder Buddies weekly podcast
  • The weekly Press Row show from Jenni Carlson and Berry Tramel
  • The audio from the Friday Football Hangout show

If you are thinking that the shows we’re putting on the site as audio files are some of the same shows we have on the full website as videos, then you caught us. It’s true.

Our reasoning is simple: The audience on mobile is growing so fast that we are looking for ways to cater directly to those users.

We have a good experience for the user on their desktop device. Our videos are good. The audience for them tells us that. But it’s hard to watch those videos in your car. We don’t recommend it.

So we are thinking mobile. When we build something new, we build it for the mobile audience first.

After all, we know what you put in your pocket. And we know what you take with you when you go to your car after work.

Now you can take Berry Tramel or Jenni Carlson or Darnell Mayberry or Anthony Slater with you on your drive.

Or your jog — if that’s your thing.
