NOWATA -- The custody battle for the child known as Baby Veronica is continuing this morning with a court hearing in the Nowata County Courthouse, where the adoptive and biological families were in a courtroom for nearly an hour before exiting.
It's unclear what happened in the courtroom, but the adoptive parents from South Carolina have been seeking immediate custody of the child; and on Thursday, two Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies came to Oklahoma with a state law enforcement agent, according to Sheriff Al Cannon.
After more than an hour in the courthouse this morning, Veronica's biological family left and appeared to be somber. Brown's attorney and a Cherokee Nation official had no comment as they left the courthouse.
